Orange, you can visit the famous Roman Arc de Triomphe and theater.
In this majestic location, you may attend the opera festival know
as the "Chorégies". In the town museum, you can see
the monumental Roman marble map that covers all of the northern Vaucluse.
If you wish to continue discovering ancient culture, you may drive
to Vaison la Romaine, with its ruined Roman town, with another summer
festival, of choir music. |
Or you may follow the roads of the medieval papacy, the Popes who
fled the insecurity of the Roman court to found the Papal state of
Avignon. Beyond the palace in Avignon (photo) and of course Chateauneuf
du Pape, you may stray to visit countless medieval villages such as
